SURGICAL APPROACH TO SPONDYLOLISTHESIS THROUGH LATERAL LUMBAR INTERBODY FUSION (LLIF) IN SINGLE POSITION: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW.

Objetivo

To report on the use of the LLIF technique in Single Position in the treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis with a systematic review of the literature.

Metodologia

The approach of this study was undertaken using medical subject headings and words related to lumbar spondylolisthesis and the LLIF technique in Single Position. PubMed and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases were used. The search for articles was performed between March and May 2021, and was limited to articles from the last 10 years.

Resultados

Two articles were included following the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis.

Conclusões

The case reported on and the publications mentioned bring to light the discussion around the therapeutic approach, which is innovative and has shown to have good results when compared to methods which had previously been considered to be the gold standard. Furthermore, this approach has a lower complication rate, shorter surgical time, and anesthetic exposure, and with earlier recovery rates. It can also be concluded that during the preparation of this article, the paucity of literature addressing, in particular, this surgical update was noted, and this exposes the need for investments in studies on this topic to collaborate with the advancement of the scientific community and improvement of the LLIF technique.
