ALI MOBASHERI
Ali Mobasheri is currently President of the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) and Professor, Project Leader and Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Regenerative Medicine at the State Research Institute Centre for Innovative Medicine in Vilnius, Lithuania. He also holds a fractional position as Professor of Musculoskeletal Biology in the Research Unit of Medical Imaging, Physics and Technology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oulu in Finland. Ali’s research focuses on cartilage biology, ion channel physiology and biomarkers of osteoarthritis (OA). He has published more than 250 papers (252 paper in PubMed, 282 papers in Scopus) since 1997. He has been a Faculty Member in F1000Prime in the Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology, Musculoskeletal Repair & Regeneration section. Ali's current h-index on Scopus is 51. He has successfully co-ordinated the European Commission (EC) Framework 7 (FP7) funded D-BOARD consortium, which brought together leading European academic institutions and SMEs to focus on the identification, validation and qualification of new biomarkers for degenerative and inflammatory diseases of joints. Ali is also member of the APPROACH Consortium and has received funding from the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), a joint undertaking between the and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).
