Synovial chondromatosis or osteochondromatosis is a rare, benign, typically monoarticular disorder of the synovial lining. The knee is the most common joint involved with an occurrence rate 50% to 65%. Synovial chondromatosis can mimic osteoarthritis or meniscal pathology. This disease should be included in the differential diagnosis when evaluating adults aged 30 years to 50 years with knee pain of insidious onset.
